Political consultant and author Dick Morris will be in Fort Smith on April 15 as part of a statewide series of “Tax Day” Tea Parties organized by the Arkansas chapter of the Americans for Prosperity Foundation.

The Fort Smith event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Pendergraft Park in downtown Fort Smith. The Fort Smith Tea Party is co-sponsored by the Arkansas Progressive Group.

Morris was an unknown political consultant until he worked with his friend Bill Clinton to get the Arkansas Governor into the White House in 1992. Morris worked in the White House until he resigned his position as Clinton’s re-election campaign manager in August 1996 after it was revealed Morris was with a prostitute — allegedly allowing her to listen in on conversations between himself and Clinton — during the Democratic National Convention.

After the resignation, Morris became one of the Clinton Administration’s biggest critics. Morris continues with this consulting career, has written 10 books, and is a frequent guest on the Fox News Network.

“Dick Morris will be an outstanding speaker for this event,” Brandon Woodrome, director of the APG, said in a statement. “His experience has given him a great perspective on the workings of government, and concerned citizens will not want to miss his address.”

Morris is set to begin his day at 11 a.m. for a Tea Party rally in the Fayetteville Town Center. After the Fort Smith event, Morris will travel to Little Rock for a 5 p.m. Tea Party rally at the State Capitol Building.
