2015 Washington County Appraisal Expected to Show Increase in Value

The 2015 reappraisal of Washington County real estate is about to wrap up, and in early July, notice of market and taxable values will be sent to property owners.

The new appraisal was ongoing from January 2011 through Jan. 1, 2015. More than 94,000 residential and commercial properties will be included. The final figures are in the process of being tabulated.

Washington County outsources the appraisal to North Little Rock-based ACT, which has eight field offices across the state, including Fayetteville.

“I would expect to see an increase, but I don’t expect it to be a huge increase,” said Don Horton, vice president of appraisal services at ACT. “There is not a decline now. Things have improved since the 2010 appraisal.”

In 2010, the total assessed value in Washington County was $2.4 billion. Benton County will issue its appraisal next year.

Washington County assessor Russell Hill said while taxes might go up, an increase in property values is good for the region.

“I think we’ll see growth in Northwest Arkansas, and sustainability in residential housing,” he said. “We’re headed in the right direction.”
