Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has announced a $340 million expansion in its Canada operation, investing the money in supercenter, distribution network, and e-commerce projects.

According to the company, 29 supercenter stores will add approximately 230,000 SF of retail space, and the development will generate 3,700 construction jobs, 1,000 store jobs and 300 distribution center jobs.

The supercenters will be completed in the company’s fiscal year, which began Feb. 1 and ends Jan. 31, 2016.

“Our mission is to provide multiple access points for customers to save money,” Dirk Van den Berghe, president and CEO of Walmart Canada, said in a news release. “We will deliver on this commitment through a range of channels including our expanding network of supercenters, our accelerating e-commerce business, and our in-store pick up services.”

The expansion will bring Wal-Mart Canada’s store count to 396 by the end of January, 2016, consisting of 309 supercenters and 87 discount stores.
