Ozark Natural Foods First Store To Sell New, Compostable Bags
Ozark Natural Foods in Fayetteville became the first store to sell Xylobags, a compostable garbage bag product line that was developed at the Arkansas Research and Technology Park, when it launched the product in July.
Lignin is a byproduct of the paper industry. “We’ve taken an underutilized material and turned into a value-added product,” Cao said.
Xylobags have been certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute and received an Edison Award in 2012.
The line is the only consumer product put out by the raw materials supplier and was created to raise awareness about the technology.
Cao started cycleWood in 2010 with co-founder Kevin Oden. The business moved to Texas, per an investor’s request, but maintains an office in Fayetteville.
