Disappearing Dykema
So where’s Dan Dykema? Whispers tried to find him the other day, and thought we had, but to no avail.
A source told us he heard Dykema had cleaned up any mess he might have had with the FDIC and was managing the Bentonville Butcher and Deli on Walton Boulevard.
When Whispers called the deli in an attempt to reconnect with our former Forty Under 40 honoree, we were told, “Dan is no longer with us.”
The founder and president of the extinct Arkansas National Bank seemed to have disappeared from the limelight around the time his bank was shuttered by federal regulators in 2008. A source told Whispers they thought he had gone under the radar and moved out of state a while back.
That may be true, but if public records are any indication, he’s been hiding out in broad daylight. According to public records, he’s still a member of the IDOTA LLC that owns the Bentonville deli. And land records show that he still has an ownership interest in a 6,820-SF home in Bentonville.
The former banking tycoon once told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, “I just like money.” Everybody knows that. But what Whispers really wants to find out is this: Where’s Dan Dykema?
