New TV Show to Spotlight Agriculture in Arkansas

A monthly series dedicated to Arkansas’ largest industry will debut Sunday, July 27, on the Arkansas Educational Television Network, the state’s public television network based in Conway.

“Agri Arkansas” will highlight Arkansas’ agricultural successes and spotlight issues important to both farmers and consumers, including features from around the state and interviews with experts.

According to the University of Arkansas Division of Agricultural Research & Extension, agriculture is a $17 billion industry in Arkansas, and accounts for one of every six jobs in the state.

Arkansas is in the top 25 states in the production of 24 agricultural commodities and leads the country in rice and baitfish production. It is among the top three in broilers, catfish and turkey.

The program will air the last Sunday of each month at 1 p.m. In Northwest Arkansas, AETN is broadcast on Cox Communications, KAFT, Channel 702.
