Buzz kill execs
A recent survey by The Creative Group finds that 68% of advertising and marketing executives interviewed in a survey say April Fools’ pranks are unsuitable for the office environment.
What a bunch of Lumbergers!
Anyway, The Creative Group interviewed 375 marketing execs with companies of 100 or more employees and advertising execs with agencies of 20 or more employees.
"Many advertising and marketing teams are stretched thin, and there may be less acceptance of activities that are viewed as potential distractions," Donna Farrugia, executive director of The Creative Group, said in a very serious statement. "April Fools’ jokes often have a target, too, which can make them hard to pull off without hurting someone’s feelings."
The survey asked: "How appropriate do you think it is to play April Fools’ jokes in the office?" The responses:
Very appropriate — 3%
Somewhat appropriate — 27%
Not very appropriate — 27%
Not at all appropriate — 41%
Don’t know/no answer — 2%
