Activity Continues in Saga of Brandon Barber
You may have heard there’s been some recent activity in the legal saga of Brandon Barber.
David Fisher, an attorney in Rogers, was found not guilty Oct. 23 by U.S. District Judge P.K. Holmes III.
Fisher was accused of scheming with Barber to commit bank fraud.
On Oct. 17, Brandon Rains accepted a deal in exchange for a guilty plea to making false statements to the FBI. He was originally accused of single counts of money laundering and conspiring to commit bank fraud.
If you’re keeping score, three others previously have pleaded guilty in the case — Barber, James Van Doren and Jeff Whorton.
Sentencing dates have not been set for any of the men.
A sixth defendant, Fayetteville attorney Vaughn Knight, will go to trial Nov. 4 in Fort Smith on charges of money laundering and bankruptcy fraud.
