Free Screening Announced for Lindsey Documentary
A free screening of the documentary on the life of real estate magnate Jim Lindsey of Fayetteville is planned Sunday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Fayetteville Pubic Library, director Clint Fullen announced Friday.
It will mark the first public showing of “The Jim Lindsey Story,” which premiered Aug. 29 at a private screening at the UARK Bowl in Fayetteville.
Fullen said a screening is also scheduled in Forrest City — Lindsey’s hometown — on Oct. 25, and the film will be shown at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival on Oct. 18.
A planned showing in Little Rock has been postponed indefinitely, Fullen said.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is the narrator of the documentary, which has a run time of 34 minutes.
Both men are native Arkansans and were teammates on the University of Arkansas’ 1964 national championship football team.
Lindsey, a running back, was a second-round draft pick in 1966 by both the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL and the Buffalo Bills of the AFL. He played for the Vikings until his retirement in 1972.
Lindsey began dealing in real estate in Northwest Arkansas during the off-season while playing with the Vikings. One notable deal was the purchase of 127 acres in 1968 — using signing bonus money from the Vikings — for land that eventually became the Northwest Arkansas Mall.
Lindsey founded his company Lindsey & Associates Inc. upon retirement from the NFL.
