Fort Smith Construction Firm Adds 3 CNG Trucks to Fleet
SSi General Construction LLC, based in Fort Smith, recently added three new compressed natural gas trucks to its 35-truck fleet.
The new trucks are among the industry’s first factory-produced CNG trucks, the company said in a news release, which also stated most CNG trucks are standard trucks that have been retrofitted to run on natural gas.
SSi bought the new trucks through Breeden Dodge Dealership of the Breeden Auto Group in Fort Smith.
Co-founded in 1969 by brothers Leo and Martine Anhalt, SSi started out as a metal building installation company. It’s evolved into a full-service design-build construction firm licensed to work in 16 states.
SSi serves the industrial, commercial, cold storage, processing, medical and institutional sectors, as well as smaller projects in the Fort Smith region like convenience stores and a new aquatic center being built for the city of Clarksville.
“Design-build is now our calling card,” Justin Wisdom, SSi’s vice president of business development, said in the release. “We can take very conceptual ideas and develop those into plans that are good plans for the owner to review. We take their wishes and make it into an actual [building] design.”
The company celebrated a re-branding initiative with a 44th anniversary reception March 7.
