After a years-long FCC approval process and a fundraising campaign that’s raised $584,475 toward a $900,000 goal, radio station KLRC expects to begin broadcasting its new 100,000-watt signal sometime this month.

Owned by John Brown University in Siloam Springs, KLRC has operated on a 6,000-watt signal since 1990, reaching about 60,000 listeners. The stronger signal will allow the station to reach nearly 500,000 more listeners.

General manager Sean Sawatzky wrote in a recent letter to supporters that construction of a 450-foot tower is nearly completed, and the station, which has a contemporary Christian format, will move from 101.1 FM to 90.9 FM on the radio dial.
