Davidson to Launch Book Just in Time For Holidays

Lela Davidson’s approach to marriage and motherhood is pretty simple.

“Take it as it comes, and laugh a lot,” she said.

As evidenced by her first book, “BLACKLISTED from the PTA,” Davidson not only heeds her own advice, but is happy to entertain readers by sharing her experiences. Now she’s back with a follow-up effort, “Who Peed on My Yoga Mat?”

“I think they’re better,” Davidson said of the collection of 46 mostly humorous essays. “I think everything I learned from last time made me a better writer.”

Davidson said her second collection also is “more focused,” written in about a year rather than the five she spent on “BLACKLISTED.”

Her latest stories still center around her family, which has entered its “middle” phase.

“There’s more marriage stuff in this one, I think,” Davidson said. “My kids are teenagers now, so there’s more negotiating about what I can write.

“With my husband, I pretty much know what I can get away with.”

Davidson characterized most of her material as “light,” and aimed at the suburban set who deals with everyday issues as moms and wives.

“Happiness, and family happiness, in particular, is a matter of perspective,” she said. “What do I, living in prosperous Northwest Arkansas with a great family and great life, really have to complain about?

“These essays are about the little daily things that drive you insane.”

Davidson will celebrate the launch of her latest work with a Dec. 4 party at The Chancellor Hotel in Fayetteville, from 6-9 p.m. Discounted copies will be available.

Otherwise, paperback copies will sell for $15, while Kindle copies initially will be available for $9.99.

The 232-page book is being published by Jupiter Press, an imprint of Wyatt-MacKenzie, and distributed internationally by INGRAM.
