UA Tops $103 Million Fundraising Goal
Private donations to the University of Arkansas were down slightly during the most recent fiscal year, but support for the university is still on target.
The UA said recently it received $108.1 million in charitable giving during the fiscal year that ended June 30, surpassing the goal of $103 million.
The school registered $121.3 million in private gifts during fiscal 2011, marking the first time the university surpassed $100 million in fundraising totals for two consecutive years.
“The Arkansas family truly understands the need for private gift support and the impact it has on our students and the campus overall,” Brad Choate, vice chancellor for university advancement, said in a news release.
The $108.1 million total includes gifts of cash, gifts-in-kind, planned gifts and new pledges.
Of that total, $26.2 million was pledged to support athletics and the Razorback Foundation.
Several ongoing construction and renovation projects on campus were made possible by private gift support, with 46 percent of the year’s total going to support capital improvements.
Donations to support students and programs accounted for 35 percent of the total.
“If you walk around campus, it’s easy to see what gifts can do,” chancellor David Gearhart said in the release.
