Assistant to Rogers Mayor Loses Job
Lynn Keith, the executive assistant for Rogers mayor Greg Hines, lost her job last month, apparently after her involvement in a verbal altercation at the LPGA Tour event at Pinnacle Country Club.
Keith, the mayor’s aide since his inauguration Jan. 1, 2011, and a childhood friend of Hines, and Angela Brewer, the city’s director of human resources for three years, were working at a concessions tent near the driving range at PCC during one of the pro-am days during the tournament.
As we understand it, the two women began packing up to leave early because of slow sales, helped by the fact that Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the tournament’s title sponsor, was giving away free bottles of water to fans the entire week because of triple-digit temperatures.
The early departure didn’t sit well with an official from Octagon, a sports marketing firm that runs the tournament, and the ladies were told to remain at their post. The argument, we hear, escalated into a pretty nasty scene, so much so that Keith and Brewer were escorted from the course and asked not to return.
On Monday, July 2, the day after the tournament’s conclusion, Hines gave Keith — the daughter of retired Benton County Circuit Judge Tom Keith — the option to resign or be terminated. She chose the former.
Brewer, it appears, is still employed and remains listed with the administration personnel on the city’s website.
Hines did not return a phone call seeking comment before deadline.
