November 2011 was, of course, just a few weeks after the announcement Walmart was abandoning its Manhattan-based apparel office.

The retailer said it would move its 278-person fashion team from its 46,000-SF garment center office back to the company’s headquarters in Bentonville.

Repeated efforts to get some confirmation from Lawrence and Walmart were unsuccessful.

But, a letter sent from Morrison-Shipley Engineers executive John Wary to the Bentonville Planning Commission in June regarding the S Street location noted the following:

“The applicant [Rescue Heroes LLC] is currently in the process of transferring title of the referenced property and upon said transfer, the intent is to proceed with the development plan as previously approved,” the letter read.
