Jerry Jones Maintains Power Ranking
Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal released its annual list of the 50 most influential people in sports business, and it featured a familiar name.
Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys and a member of the University of Arkansas’ 1964 national championship team, is No. 10 on the list. He held the same spot last year.
Here’s what the SBJ wrote about Jones: “The first Super Bowl at the Cowboys’ new home may have not gone as planned, but that’s hardly slowed Jones. Whether on the labor committee that negotiated the new NFL collective-bargaining agreement or on the high-profile broadcast committee negotiating the wave of mega TV deals, Jones has a say in the NFL’s most critical decisions.”
Jones is ranked 25 spots ahead of another name familiar to a lot of Whispers readers. That would be Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive, who made the cut after not being included last year.
