Former University of Arkansas basketball player Jonathon Modica has been named assistant director of development for university programs in the office of university development.

Modica will report to Charlotte Taylor, director of development for university programs. Modica’s primary role will be to help raise private support for Access Arkansas, a need-based scholarship program, and other similar initiatives.

“The U of A played a critical role in shaping the individual I’ve become, and through this position, I can help the university grow in many ways,” Modica said in a university release.

A Smackover native, Modica was a two-time All-SEC player and ranks 12th on Arkansas’ all-time scoring list. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2007 and a master’s degree in journalism in 2008. During commencement exercises on May 14, Modica received a doctorate in higher education.
