While one tenant is leaving Dickson Street, another is expanding.

The venerable Dickson Street Liquor is about to get bigger. Though final plans have yet to be written in ink, the almost 3,000-SF building is expected to grow by about 2,600 SF. The addition will be toward Dickson Theater.

About 1,400 SF of that will be dedicated to retail. The current store has about 1,500 SF of retail space. The extra space will feature “more of everything, especially beer and wine,” a source told Whispers.

Plans also call for a condo of about 1,200 SF to be added via a second floor. The unit will be leased on a short-term basis for events like University of Arkansas football games, Bikes, Blues & BBQ, etc.

The source said the move is based on DSL’s desire “to be competitive long term.” DSL is owned by Bill Waite.
