Transplace, a provider of transportation management services and logistics technology, announced April 5 it has acquired SCO Logistics.

SCO Logistics is a Philadelphia-based logistics company that focuses on the chemical industry. Transplace’s largest operations center is located in Lowell and employs about 275.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Transplace generates more than $800 million in revenue from a customer base of about 650 customers, according to a company news release.

Transplace president and CEO Tom Sanderson said, via the release, the acquisition “is an illustration of our commitment and strategic plan to continue growing Transplace and building competitive advantage.”

The acquisition is the first for Transplace, which has been owned by CI Capital Partners since 2009. CI Capital Partners managing director Joost Thesseling echoed that sentiment with another prepared statement, deeming the move “an important milestone in Transplace’s strategy of complementing its organic growth opportunities with selective strategic acquisitions.”
