Penguin Pastries Diversify Barbecue

Ed Knight and wife Diane are already busy managing Fayetteville’s three Penguin Ed’s Barbeque locations. But that didn’t stop them from making space inside their Mission Boulevard shop for Ed’s Penguin Café, which launched July 9.

Stepping inside means running smack-dab into a world’s worth of delicious coffees, pastries, cookies, crepes, cupcakes, etc. Menu items are homemade from scratch and baked fresh daily.

Locally roasted coffees are available, as are local Farmer’s Market produce and organic ingredients.

Sliding French doors connect the barbecue/cappuccino crowds, although a separate entrance to the café is available via the parking lot.

Draped in warm colors (and equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity), the roughly 1,000 SF space is the type of cozy space you wouldn’t mind spending time with old friends at – and penguins, of course.

Suzanne Patten is the artist responsible for many of the café’s tasty creations. An Arkansas native, she studied at the Culinary Institute of America and has spent time across the country honing her talents.

Located at 2769 Mission Blvd., the café’s hours are Mon-Sat 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sunday 7:30 a.m. to noon.
