C.R. Crawford Construction Closes in on Academy

C.R. Crawford Construction Co. is nearing completion of a 75,000-SF Academy Sports + Outdoors located at the corner of S. 26th Street and Pleasant Grove Road in Rogers.

The building’s valuation is $3.99 million. It’s slated for a late-August or early-September completion.

Subcontractors on the project include Crafton Tull Sparks and Adams Engineering as the civil engineers.

TLD Architects Inc. of Houston are the architects.

BGA Engineers Inc. are the structural engineers.

Henderson Engineers Inc. of Lowell are performing the mechanical, electrical and plumbing work on the project.

Academy operates more than 100 stores in 11 states. The company operates three in Arkansas with one each in Fort Smith, Little Rock and Sherwood.

Charles Sloan Starts

Cobblestone Homes

Charles W. Sloan & Associates recently purchased 11 permits for single-family homes valued at a combined $1.9 million.

Eight of those are for homes in Fayetteville’s Cobblestone Subdivision located in west Fayetteville near Salem and Mt. Comfort Roads for which Sloan is the contractor.

The owner of the homes and developer of the subdivision is Mark Marquess through his Riverwood Homes LLC.

The homes are located at 3048, 3148, 3085, 3038 and 3136 N. Bentley Ridge; 3044 N. Azure Ave.; and 4715 and 4667 N. Rockledge Drive.

The Riverwood homes will range from 1,330 SF to 2,100 SF and be listed between $139,000 and $180,000.

Amenities on the homes include full brick exteriors, covered patios, fully landscaped yards, granite countertops in the kitchen and bath, cellulose insulation, whirlpool tubs, stainless steel appliances, energy efficient windows and nine-foot ceilings.

Linda Marquess of Crye-Leike Realtors is the exclusive listing agent.

First Federal Bank is providing the financing.

Sloan’s other three homes are in east Fayetteville and will be located at 1717 Harding Place, and 1704 and 1705 S. Sinclair Ave.

Five-and-Dime

Set to Expand

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. purchased a permit valued at $1.55 million to alter an existing commercial building in May.

The building, located at 105 N. Main in Bentonville, is the current location of the Wal-Mart Visitors Center and Walton 5 and Dime.

The company announced in February that the Visitors Center would expand into the Terry Block Building on the Bentonville square.

According to the permit, Columbus, Kan.-based Crossland Construction Co. is the general contractor at the Visitors Center. Crossland is one of the largest contractors in Northwest Arkansas and has built several Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club projects as well as several area hotels.

 

Hometown Raises

Single Fourplex Unit

Robert Schmitt, through his Hometown Development Ltd., is building a fourplex at 2671 N. Arroyo Ave. in Fayetteville’s Sunbridge subdivision.

The building will be a total of 5,610 SF, with about 4,602 total heated SF.

The permit value of the project is $408,750.

Subcontractors on the building include The Necessary of Springdale, providing sanitary services, Terry Presley of Huntsville, providing plumbing services, and Emco Termite & Pest Control Inc. of Tontitown, providing pest services.

 

Brattens Buy

Har-Ber Home

Craig and Judy Bratten recently purchased a 2,717-SF home located at 491 JTL Parkway in Springdale for $325,000.

JTL Parkway is in the Har-Ber Meadows subdivision in west Springdale, near U.S. Highway 412.

The two-story home, built in 2004, was last appraised in 2010 for $353,100. The Brattens purchased the home from Johnny and Susan Gabbard, who purchased the lot in September 2003 for $50,000.

The home has 1,188 SF of paved driveway space and two fireplaces.
