Silly Comments About Crystal Miss Mark

We were excited to hear the news about the forthcoming 21c Museum Hotel for downtown Bentonville. The $28 million hotel is sure to be an attraction all to its own, as well as a synergistic draw with the landmark Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

Kudos to the Wall Street Journal, which broke the story late the night before the official announcement. Of course we eagerly read the story, then checked out the comments WSJ allows readers to post.

“Important items to be displayed include Velvet Elvis, Dogs Playing Cards and some of the best of the classes that include paint by number, coloring and finger paints,” wrote someone by the name of Robert Alton.

Of course, Alton did not return our e-mails asking if he’d ever visited Arkansas or knew anything about the Crystal Bridges project or any of its announced collection, so we can’t officially call him an ignoramus, though we’d like to.

We will offer Mr. Alton this: be our guest on opening week. We’re certain you’ll be eating crow.
