New ‘Dive’ Bar Coming to Dickson Street
Appletinis are fine, we suppose, but some of us frequently yearn for the Dickson Street of old. You know, the days when men ordered drinks that came in mugs or highball glasses, and women ordered, well, not appletinis.
Thankfully, there are at least a few other people who think the same way. How else does one explain Kingfish, the soon-to-be-open “dive bar” that’s the brainchild of Mike Rohrbach, Archie Schaffer and Ben Merryman?
Located in the former home of Smiling Jack’s Fresh Foods, about a beer bottle’s throw from Dickson, Kingfish is expected to be up and taking drink orders sometime in March. The aim is for a slightly updated ‘70s feel, complete with a jukebox, old beer signs and other such items.
Business will be built around a full-service bar, and food delivery from The Flying Burrito Company will be available. Future plans include the construction of a fence around the adjoining patio to make live music more feasible.
So, while we doubt they’re needed, we’d like to make our reservations now.
