UA Prof Nominated For Regional Emmy

University of Arkansas journalism professor Larry Foley has been nominated for an Emmy award by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In past years, Foley has received six nominations and earned two Emmy awards.

Foley has been nominated in the category of Writer/Program for his documentary “The Buffalo Flows,” which recounts the history of the Buffalo River and ends in the creation of the nation’s first national river. His documentary is one of three University of Arkansas films that have collected a total of six nominations this year.

“The Buffalo Flows” has also been nominated in the category of Cultural Documentary; photographer Trey Marley was nominated in the category of Photographer/Program; and music professor and sound track composer James Greeson has been nominated in the category of Musical Composition/Arrangement.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences 2009 Emmy Gala took place on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Renaissance Grand Hotel in St. Louis.

“The Buffalo Flows” will air nationally on PBS, at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.
