A great-great-grandmother who packed heat but gardened in high heels is part of the inspiration behind V.S. Mobley’s General Store, a boutique located less than a block off Dickson Street.

The store is co-owned by Jordan Garner Bartholomew, 23, and her mother, Rebecca. It occupies roughly 2,000 SF and features wood floors, brick walls, and a generally funky feel.

V.S. Mobley’s features an array of merchandise ranging from silk bed linens to hemp pet collars. Prices vary from economical to expensive, and Garner Bartholomew plans to expand inventory whenever feasible.

Garner Bartholomew said she opened the store in hopes of fostering a more centralized shopping scene in Fayetteville.

“Downtown Fayetteville is luckily starting to veer away from only a bar scene,” she said. “It’s becoming a little bit more like a walker-friendly merchant’s circle. I wanted to be part of that.”

A sizeable patio accompanies the store, and Garner Bartholomew said it eventually will serve not just as area for outdoor retail products, but as a space for events like tea parties and bridal luncheons.
