Zortees Gives Design Power to the People

Ever come up with an idea for a really cool T-shirt and wish you could design it yourself?
Slader Agee is making that wish come true.
“We want the customer to be as much a part of the process as possible,” said Agee, owner of Zorteesin Fayetteville.
At Zortees, located in Forest Park Plaza at the intersection of Wedington and Garland avenues, designs are generated on a computer, then transferred to fabric via a digital printer. Once a design is complete, the image can be transferred onto a T-shirt ready to wear in about 15 minutes.
The flexibility in design, top-notch resolution, and a lack of restrictions in terms of color choices make Zortees’ direct-to-garment process an appealing alternative to traditional screen printing. Agee prints T-shirts much the same way you print documents.
“It’s pretty much wide-open,” Agee said.
“I can print a single shirt or orders up into the hundreds,” he said. The flexibility means Agee doesn’t need to warehouse excess inventory, so the store footprint is only about 1,000 SF.
Among Zortees most popular items, Agee said, are blank Ed Hardy, American Apparel, and Retro Brand shirts. All are just waiting for a design, either one from Zortees’ voluminous catalog of images or one of your own.
Zortees also offers officially licensed University of Arkansas athletic and Greek apparel, as well as products made in conjunction with the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission. Agee said a grand opening is planned for August, by which time he hopes to have additional computer kiosks available for would-be designers.
