We were in the mood for Mexican food when we chose Mojito’s Mexican Grill for lunch but when we entered the restaurant, we weren’t sure that Mexican was what we were getting. The décor was more “art deco meets contemporary” than “south of the border.”

Nonetheless, we assumed the name meant we were in for a spicy treat.

We were seated right away in a huge booth, large enough for a family of eight, and immediately served baskets of chips and red salsa.

The salsa was some of the best in town, not too hot and not too mild. It tasted a bit like the salsa at La Huerta restaurants, which it turns out are run by members of the same family.

The first reviewer chose chicken fajitas ($9). She liked that she had a choice of flour or corn tortillas, since most Tex-Mex style restaurants only offer flour.

The sizzling chicken was well seasoned and tender and the onions and peppers were cooked just right. The corn tortillas were especially tasty.

To her surprise, she finished most of the generous portion.

The second reviewer chose chicken quesadillas ($5) and added a beef taco ($4) to his order for some variety.

There was ample cheese and everything was fresh, he said.

The restaurant’s oversized booths, bright lighting and colorful walls all made for a cheerful atmosphere and a nice respite from the workday.

Good service, good food, good prices (about $18 for two people) and a convenient location combine to make this spot one that we will likely frequent.
