Arvest Bank Buys Vacant Tim Hurd Dealership Property (Real Deals)

Arvest Bank-Fayetteville recently purchased the property that was home to the Tim Hurd Lincoln/Mercury dealership at the corner of College Avenue and Township Street for $1.66 million.

The purchase from the NWA Group LLC closed Dec. 24.

The property includes two buildings on two separate lots. One building fronts College Avenue and is 9,130 SF. It was constructed in 1964.

The second building, which is 1,956 SF, fronts Township Street and was constructed in 1972. The property was purchased from the NWA Group in 2002 for $1.65 million. Richard T. Hurd is listed as the registered agent for the NWA Group of Springdale. The property was previously owned by Robert and Millie Nelms and operated as Nelms Acura.

Arvest purchased the property for future use but has no plans to build a branch at the location in 2009. Greg Taylor of Griffin Company Realtors in Springdale was the listing agent.

University Builds New Home for KUAF

The University of Arkansas is starting a $1.5 million project to renovate and expand a building to serve as the new home of its public radio station, KUAF-FM, 91.3.

The facility includes about 3,500 SF of existing space and 3,500 SF of new space for a total of 7,000 SF. The property, which was purchased for $500,000 in 2007 from Richard Alexander, Rob Merry-Ship, Mitchell Massey and John Nock, is located across from the Fayetteville Public Library at 9 S. School Ave.

Polk Stanley Rowland Curzon Porter Architects Ltd., of Little Rock, is providing the design services on the project.

Construction was scheduled to begin in January with an anticipated completion date of January 2010.

Fayetteville Fudds Gets New Owner

Pheasant Run Development, Inc., of Branson, Mo., recently bought the former Fuddruckers location in Fayetteville for $1.3 million from Great Southern Bank.

The 6,830-SF building, in Phase II of the CMN Business Park, was constructed in 2004.

Amjo Properties operated the Fuddruckers restaurant out of the location until it closed in 2007. The building is being remodeled and will become a Mexican restaurant called Patrón.

Faith Builders Buys Rogers Roller Rink

Faith Builders Family Church of Rogers purchased the former Razorback Roller Rink for $675,000.

The building at 2005 N. 13th St. was purchased from the Razorback Roller Rink LLC. The roller skating rink closed on Dec. 18.

Faith Builders, a three-year-old congregation, moved out of its 5,000-SF space on W. Chestnut St. on Jan. 4 and began renovations to the former roller skating rink.

Renovations will include removing existing walls and installing a new sprinkler system.

The church is also adding new bathrooms and plumbing and making improvements to the building’s exterior.

The roller skating rink’s specialty lighting was removed and saved for future use in the children’s church and youth group areas.

The church expects to begin holding services at the new location in six to eight weeks.

Historic Fayetteville Home Purchased

Sarah Bishop recently purchased a historic home in the Country Gardens addition in Fayetteville for $540,000 from James Knuzelmann and Don Marr.

The 5,202-SF home was constructed in 1881 and remodeled in 2000. It features a stone exterior, fireplace and detached garage.

Knuzelmann and Marr purchased the home in 2003 from Donald and Mary Elaine Allen for $386,000.

Deckers Buy Goshen Home

Travis and Susan Decker recently purchased a home in the Waterford Estates at Hissom Ranch development in Goshen for $475,000. The home, purchased from Gary Combs, was constructed in 2006.

The 4,271-SF home features a brick and stone exterior and includes a fireplace.

Savannah Estates Home Changes Hands

Bruce and Denise Pontius recently purchased a home in the Savannah Estates neighborhood of Fayetteville for $440,000. The home, built in 1997, was purchased from Louis and Julia Ruggiere, who bought the home in 2003 for $500,000.

The 2,968-SF home includes a fireplace and a wood fence.
