Trout Fishing In America Nominated For Fourth Grammy

Duet Trout Fishing in America was nominated for a Grammy Award for the fourth time on Dec. 3.

The Prairie Grove-based group was nominated for a new release CD called “Big Round World.”

The Grammy nod is for the “best musical album for children” category and the group is up against the likes of “Here come the 123s” by They Might Be Giants; “The Shoe Bird” by the Seattle Symphony, conducted by Gerard Schwarz; and a CD of dance-along symphonies by Beethoven’s Wig.

The group was nominated for the same category in 2001 for the CD “inFINity,” again in 2004 for its

“Merry Fishes to All,” and a third time in 2006 for “My Best Day,” a live CD that was recorded for the Arkansas Educational Television Network in Conway.

Ezra Idlet, half of the duo, said “Big Round World” was recorded at his personal studio with partner Keith Grimwood. The two had friends play backup and other parts.

In 2006, Idlet told the Business Journal that the band spends about 100 days per year on the road doing shows.
