WaMu Mug on eBay
We didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when we saw a WaMu coffee mug being auctioned on ebay just days after the bank’s failure.
Part of the message to bidders read: “You are bidding on my retirement fund. (the empty cup) I figure the actual value to be somewhere in the ballpark of, ummm, say, $58,873.38, but please bid what you think it’s worth …
“With my vested stock options, 401k vesting, my retirement fund looks as empty as this cup.”
On the morning of Oct. 2 the cup had 13 bids and was up to a paltry $22.25 with only 10 hours to go.
The seller was from New York.
We are well reminded that many people in Northwest Arkansas have lost their entire savings and many their jobs due to the failure of ANB Financial.
We hope this region is past the worst part of the economic crisis and paid its dues early.
The description goes on to read: “The cup has many purposes, I have drank many gallons of coffee out of it, but it need not be limited to just that. It’s an excellent paper weight, beggers cup, flower pot, mini trash can, but what ever you do (DO NOT PUT MONEY IN THIS CUP).”
