Fort Smith Food Market

Plans submitted to the Arkansas Department of Health indicate a couple new eateries heading for the Fort Smith market.

Whole Hog Café, the champion barbeque joint born in Little Rock that has made a successful expansion to Bentonville and Fayetteville, submitted plans for a location at 4501 Burrough Rd.

LongHorn Steakhouse, which bills itself as home to “the authentic West,” is a company with most of its locations east of the Mississippi. It also has a presence in Puerto Rico and as far west as Arizona.

LongHorn has submitted plans for a location at 7100 Rogers Ave. The company’s Web site indicates this will be its first location in Arkansas.

Strangely enough, the company has no locations in Texas, where we hear the Longhorn moniker plays quite well.
