Six years in the making, Jason’s Deli finally opened its first Northwest Arkansas location in June at Nelson’s Crossing in Fayetteville.

Bourke Harvey owns seven Jason’s Deli restaurants from Oklahoma City to Little Rock and has the rights to the area market with plans to eventually expand its presence.

“We have been real excited about the response so far,” said director of catering sales Lennon Patton. “Before we opened we had 100 people a day coming up, pulling on the doors trying to get in.”

Patton said Harvey, who lives in Little Rock, had been eyeing the Northwest Arkansas market for years, and construction delays at Nelson’s Crossing further pushed back the debut.

Mark Sears, a Springdale native and Jason’s Deli veteran who started in Little Rock and worked in Oklahoma and Texas locations as well, will be the general manager.

Patton said Jason’s Deli doesn’t do traditional advertising, instead relying on positive word-of-mouth through catering and teaming up with community nonprofit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, churches and schools.

Jason’s Deli also has many “green” practices such as foam-free to-go packaging, water-saving toilets and faucets, motion activated restroom lighting and solar power at multiple locations.

The company also reduces waste by providing napkins, plates and forks only on request for to-go orders, recycling and replacing travel with conference calls and “Webinars.”
