Garfield’s, Moe’s, Mama Fu’s Close
The list of Northwest Arkansas restaurant closings continues to grow as 2007 draws to a close.
In a corporate move, Eateries Inc. of Edmond, Okla., closed the Garfield’s Restaurant & Pub in the Northwest Arkansas Mall. Midwest Mall Properties senior property manager Jeff Bishop said the closing was not specific to the mall and that Eateries Inc. shut down a number of stores in the Midwest.
No one from Eateries Inc. could be reached for comment.
“We’re disappointed, but we see this as an opportunity to find another tenant,” Bishop said of the 5,022-SF space previously occupied by Luby’s Cafeteria until 2004. “We’re looking at both national chains or regional operators.”
In Bentonville, Mama Fu’s Asian House and Moe’s Southwest Grill on Walton Boulevard have closed, joining Brioso Brazil as casualties for the city during 2007.
Bentonville tax receipts show both Mama Fu’s and Moe’s, both owned by Michael Cothran, had steep revenue declines not long after their openings. In December 2006, Mama Fu’s had $100,200 in revenue and Moe’s had $83,400.
For the most recent month collected in September, Mama Fu’s had $51,000 in sales and Moe’s had $45,600, declines of 49 percent and 45 percent, respectively.
Garfield’s had sales of $449,200 through the first 10 months of 2007 according to city tax receipts. It did $645,200 in sales during 2006.
Other area closings for the year include O’Charley’s, Smokey Bones, Fuddruckers, Cleo and Cool Water Café in Fayetteville and Lone Star Steakhouse in Springdale.
