Todd Golden, owner of Mermaids restaurant in Fayetteville, plans to open a “take and bake” location in early November.

The store, a small, metal portable building Golden calls Dinner Dash, is located on North College in Fayetteville in the parking lot adjacent to Hobby Lobby, The Bank of Fayetteville and Office Depot.

Golden said he will prepare items at Mermaids and keep them in cool storage at the Dinner Dash location, but they won’t be frozen. People can pick up food throughout the day and refrigerate it, then heat it in the oven or microwave when it’s convenient for them.

“Everybody’s on the go these days,” he said.

Golden plans to make about 20 menu items available at a time and rotate them occasionally. He will post a current menu at www.mermaids.ws. Prices will range from $3 to $4 for single entrees, to $12 to $14 for family-sized meals. He will also carry a selection of soups and salad dressings, which are popular, he said.

Mermaids had total 2006 sales of $521,400 and caters to J.B. Hunt Transport Services’ corporate offices twice a week.
