Fort Smith’s KMAG-FM, 99.1, tops the charts in the River Valley radio market with an 11.4 percent share in the 12-year-old and higher demographic.
The numbers come from Arbitron Inc.’s fall 2006 radio ratings.
The station is owned by Clear Channel Communications Inc. of San Antonio and has a country music format. The station’s Fayetteville sister station, KKIX-FM, 103.9 dominates the Fayetteville market and is also owned by Clear Channel.
KTCS-FM, 99.9 owned by Big Chief Broadcasting of Rock Island, Okla., came as the No. 2 station in Fort Smith, with a 9.9 percent share, and KOMS-FM, 107.3 owned by Cumulus Broadcasting Inc. of Atlanta, came in at No. 3 with an 9.2 percent share. Both stations are also country formatted.
Clear Channel also owns KKBD-FM, 95.9 (adult contemporary format, tied at No. 7), KWHN/KYHN-AM, 1650 (news/talk format, tied at No. 9) and KZBB-FM, 97.9 (contemporary/pop format, also tied at No. 9).
The stations, and all four of its Fayetteville stations, are under contract to be purchased for an undisclosed amount to GoodRadio.TV of West Palm Beach, Fla.
Cumulus, a major radio competitor to Clear Channel in multiple markets, also owns KBBQ-FM (urban formatted No. 5) and KLSZ-FM (rock formatted No. 11).
