Copeland’s Famous New Orleans Restaurant is offering several new slices of decadence to its already popular dessert menu.
More than 15 varieties of cheesecake — either prepared in-house at its new, retrofitted bakery or supplied directly from New Orleans using proprietary recipes — have been available since January. Co-owner/general manager Richard LeBouff said orders for the cheesecakes are beginning to rival Copeland’s traditional Banana Fosters and white chocolate bread pudding desserts.
The success of the Cheesecake Bistro, a concept by founder Al Copeland in New Orleans, was so successful the local ownership group decided to invest in some major renovations to their Rogers restaurant that involved taking out a six-person booth and the previous station where the Bananas Fosters were prepared.
The slices start at $5.99 and whole cakes are also available.
“We’re keeping the excitement alive about Copeland’s,” LeBouff said.
Local owners Cardinal Enterprises LLC, made up of Joe and Jane Lisuzzo, Beau and Shea Beard, Joe and Jackie Muha, LeBouff and wife Stephanie, broke ground April 30 on their second franchise. The 7,000-SF restaurant in Tulsa will seat 250.
LeBouff said the restaurant made more than $4 million in revenue during calendar 2006.
