Ruskin Fired Up
Ward Davis, part of the Fayetteville Ruskin Heights development team, said things have been on fire lately. Actually, it was a house on the land where the developers hope to build their new urbanism project.
A vacant house caught fire and burned to the ground on part of the land under contact by the developers. Davis said utilities had been turned off to the structure.
Arson or accident is believed to be the cause. Davis said police had earlier removed vagabonds from the house. On Jan. 20, temperatures reached down into the 20’s, so the house could have been a refuge.
On the bright side, the fire may have saved some work. The house was scheduled for demolition.
The news continued for the Ruskin Heights team on Jan. 23 when the 29-acre development gained approval from the Fayetteville Planning Commission.
