Cate Brothers Calls it Quits

After almost 40 years and 10 recorded releases (six vinyl albums and four CDs), the Cate Brothers Band is calling it quits, sort of.
Ernie Cate said the band will not perform its rigorous schedule that can include up to 10 gigs per month regionally (most recently from Kansas City to Texarkana).
The band will take time in 2007 to “do some writing and recording,” he said. The Cate Brothers Band will do some special engagements, but nothing definite, Cate said.
In 1980, the band toured with former Springdale resident Levon Helm, front man for The Band.
