Duet Trout Fishing in America was nominated for a Grammy Award for the third time on Dec. 7.
The Prairie Grove-based group was nominated for a live-recorded CD called “My Best Day.” The concert was recorded for the Arkansas Educational Television Network on Feb. 11 in Conway. The video version of the special aired for the first time on AETN on Dec. 6.
The Grammy nod is for the “best musical album for children” category and the group is up against the likes of “Baby Einstein Meet The Orchestra” by various artists; “Catch That Train!” by Dan Zanes; and “The Sunny Side Of The Street” by John Lithgow.
“Man, I’m really thrilled,” said Ezra Idlet, half of the duo. “It’s just as exciting as the first [nomination].”
The group was nominated for the same category in 2001 for “inFINity,” and again in 2004 for its “Merry Fishes to All” release.
Idlet said he hopes to win, but that just being nominated is extremely satisfying, considering the amount of competition.
The band spends about 107 days per year on the road doing shows, Idlet said, sometimes two or three shows per day.
