NanoMech Receives Magazine Award
Fayetteville-based NanoMech LLC has received an award from R&D Magazine.
R&D and its affiliated Micro/Nano Newsletter recognized NanoMech for producing one of the 25 most innovative technologies of 2006. NanoMech won the award for its development of TuffTek cBN, a cutting tool coating of nanostructured cubic boron nitride.
The Micro/Nano Newsletter said the cBN coating significantly improves the cost and effectiveness of carbide cutting tool coatings. The result for manufacturers who use this product would be an increase in machining productivity.
NanoMech developed the coating based on a patented electrostatic spray process originally developed at the University of Arkansas.
Beyond cutting tools, NanoMech is currently developing other wear-related products such as lubricating and anti-corrosion coatings and films for microelectronics applications.
