Fort Smith Airport Numbers Keep Slipping

The Fort Smith Regional Airport had a 6.3 percent drop in passengers for the first six months of 2006 compared to the same time last year, according to the airport.
So far this year, the airport has had 91,534 passengers, compared to 97,641 from January to June last year.
For June, the unofficial passenger total was 17,202, down 10.1 percent from 19,133 for June 2005.
According to a June press release, passenger numbers “are down as a result of airlines reducing seat capacity across the country in an effort to restore their company’s to profitability.”
