Sargent, Turner Named Anchors

KNWA announced on June 27 that it had promoted Dana Sargent from anchor of its morning show, “KNWA Today,” to anchor the 9 p.m. newscast of KFTA, Fox 24.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group Inc. of Irving, Texas, announced on April 19 that it had filed with the Federal Communications Commission to sell KFTA-TV, Channel 24, in Fort Smith to Mission Broadcasting Inc. of Becksville, Ohio, for $5.6 million.

Mission and Nexstar plan to enter into a joint sales and shared services agreement and KFTA will become a Fox affiliate. That change is planned for late August.

The same day as Sargent’s announcement, the station said Matt Turner had been promoted from sports anchor to evening co-anchor for KNWA’s newscast.
