Minotaur Gets $150,000 Grant

Minotaur Technologies LLC, a Fayetteville technology company, has received a $150,000 Phase I Small Business Technology Transfer grant from the National Science Foundation.

Minotaur will use the grant to develop an instrument that will help scientists study cell biology.

Of course, scientists hope that a better understanding of how cells respond to certain treatments will help curb diseases.

Minotaur was formed in 2003 and is a “biophotonics company” which means it focuses on the field of laser-based instrumentation. Minotaur is a client of Virtual Incubation Corp. of Fayetteville.

Developing the new instrument is a joint venture between Minotaur and researchers at the University of Texas at Austin.

VIC provides clients with management, operational, research and fundraising support. It takes an equity stake in the firms and derives some fees from the awards it helps land.

This is the second such award for Minotaur, which also landed a Phase I grant about a year ago.
