One of a handful of pediatric spine specialists statewide will soon be available to children in the area.

Arkansas Children’s Hospital will be offering a pediatric spine clinic in Bentonville.

ACH plans to open the clinic in mid May, which will bring Dr. Dale Blasier, vice chief of Orthopedics at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, to the clinic.

Blasier is a pediatric surgeon who has treated a number of spinal deformities and sports injuries including scoliosis, kyphosis and spondylolisthesis.

The clinic will be leasing space from The Agility Center, which is at 1504 S.E. 28th St. It will be offered quarterly, Blasier said and ACH plans to see up to 25 children on the first day.

Spinal deformities occur in about one in every 1,000 people statewide and ACH treats about 1,000 spinal patients annually at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

Blasier has been with ACH since 1989.
