Readers looking to buy a new Mercedes-Benz will be making out their down payment checks to a new group soon.

We hear Superior Automotive Group of Fayetteville has partnered with Gary George, chairman and CEO of George’s Inc. in Springdale, and Jim Lindsey, chairman and CEO of Lindsey Management Co. of Fayetteville, to buy the Mercedes portion of the Jones Motorcars dealership in Fayetteville.

We understand this is the only such partnership the trio has entered into. No word on how much the deal is worth, but it’s set to close on May 1.

Apparently the Mercedes dealership will remain on College Ave. in Fayetteville, but the showroom and service areas will be renovated to meet Mercedes specs.

Superior Automotive has dealerships with Pontiac, Cadillac, Isuzu, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Ford, Chrysler and Kia, and had $310 million in revenue in 2004.

Besides Mercedes, Jones Motorcars carries only General Motors products. It reported $22.3 million in 2004 revenue.
