Joe Martin Race Set for May 12-14
Speaking of tourism dollars not related to Razorback games, Bruce Dunn, president of All Sports Productions Inc., is gearing up for the 29th annual Joe Martin Stage Race.
The JMSR is a bicycle race in Fayetteville that will be held May 12-14, and Dunn expects 600 riders with support staff of about 1,000 (family, mechanics, managers, doctors and the like). Dunn is the director of the race.
The JMSR may be closing in on its third decade, but it has only been on the National Race Calendar put together by nonprofit USA Cycling Inc. for four years, Dunn said. As a result, it’s attracting more spectators and riders.
“We’re really getting national attention from both the East and West Coast,” he said.
Teams from Columbia, Canada and Puerto Rico are expected to make an appearance this year, he said.
