UAFS Chancellor Finalists Announced
The committee searching for a new chancellor for the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith has narrowed the list of applicants from 86 to three.
Dan Ferritor, chairman of the search committee and vice chancellor for academic affairs of the UA system, said one of those applicants is UAFS interim chancellor Sandi Sanders, who applied for the position when Chancellor Joel Stubblefield died in October. Sanders served as senior vice chancellor and chief of staff at UAFS before taking over as interim chancellor.
The other two candidates are Rodger Bates, executive officer of New Mexico State University at Alamogordo in New Mexico, and Paul Beran, who is the president of Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Enid and Woodward, Okla.
The committee originally selected a fourth finalist, but Peter Barr, who is provost and senior vice president of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C., withdrew his name March 15 to accept a position as president of Glenville State College in Glenville, W.V.
Ferritor said the decision should be made in mid-April.
