Fort Smith law firm Smith Maurras Cohen Redd & Horan opened a Bentonville satellite office in January. Two lawyers, Lee Kirner and Bret Maurras, will head up the office.

Kirner, a partner who is licensed in Arkansas and Oklahoma, said SMCRH has a lot of clients in Benton and Washington counties, so the move was a natural progression for the firm.

The firm’s other seven lawyers will use the office on trips to Northwest Arkansas.

SMCRH’s practice is primarily business-related, banking and transactional, Kirner said, but the firm also has developed a good estate and tax planning practice.

Some of the firm’s clients include: First National Bank of Sallisaw (Okla.), BancorpSouth Bank, ABF Freight Systems Inc., USA Truck Inc. and O.K. Foods Inc.

Kirner’s practice focuses on real estate, banking law and corporate formation among others.

Maurras, who is the nephew of partner Walton Maurras, practices civil litigation, construction law and employment law. He is licensed in California as well as in Arkansas.

Kirner said the firm hopes to have four or five full-time lawyers working in the Bentonville office within two years.
