On Nov. 18, Ed Knight, the owner of Penguin Ed’s Bar-B-Que, bought the 6,144-SF building that houses Uncle Gaylord’s Mountain Cafe at 315 W. Mountain St. in Fayetteville for $515,000.

Knight purchased the 51-year-old building through Emperor Investment LLC. The previous owners were Raymond and Daphina Mitchell.

Knight said he bought the building as an investment, and Gaylord Willis would continue to operate Uncle Gaylord’s there.

Knight said he also plans to build an 800-SF addition onto his Penguin Ed’s B&B location at 230 S. East Ave. That work should be completed by June and add another eight tables to the restaurant.

Knight owns two Penguin Ed’s restaurants, both are in Fayetteville.
