Jones Television, a nonprofit station supported by the Harvey and Bernice Jones Foundation, is in the works to obtain national funding to produce a documentary on Betty Schimmel of Scottsdale, Ariz., said Carolyn Long, a writer and producer for Jones TV.

Schimmel, a Holocaust survivor, co-wrote “To See You Again,” an autobiographical account of her teenage boyfriend who she thought had been killed during World War II, only to find 30 years later that he was still alive.

Long said although there is no working title or full funding for the documentary yet, she plans to go ahead with the research, starting at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

Schimmel has been in on-again, off-again talks with Steven Spielberg for her story rights, Long said.

Jones Television has won awards for its documentaries and productions, including Telly Awards and Crystal Awards, which honor national, regional and local excellence in fields of communication and video and film production.
